If you are lucky during your stay you will catch a performance of Moreska, a spectacular knight costumed combat dance with swords. This dance has it origin from Spain, and has been traditionally performed since the 15th century. It is a battle between the armies of a black and a white king and is traditionally performed on July 27th, the day in honor of Saint Todor. Occasionaly it is repeated during the tourist season, due to great interest for this spectacle.

Did you know? Marco Polo (1254 - 1324) was a medieval Venetian merchant, and a world renowned writer and traveller. Together with his father Nicolas and his uncle Maffeo, Marco Polo was amongst the first Europeans to travel the famous Silk Road trade route, stretching from the Middle East to China.
According to a local tradition, Marco Polo was born at Korcula in 1254 to an established family of merchants, although there is no irrefutable proof of this claim. The alleged house of birth is under the protection of the Korcula Town Hall and it will soon be turned into a Museum of Marco Polo.
